Niave Melody (This Must Be The Place)

This Must Be The Place (2013) was constructed with members of the Bhutanese refugee community through a series of workshops at the Northern Suburbs Community Centre in Launceston, Tasmania during National Homeless Awareness Week 2013. Whilst making the structure the participants informally shared their stories of the refugee camps they had lived in for many years before being granted asylum in Tasmania. The structure was gifted to the community and used by them during the Junction Arts Festival and later for subsequent events.

The workshops consisted of the construction of an inflatable dome sewn together with participants out of discarded umbrellas and tents scavenged from a local Tasmanian music festival.
