New exhibition unearths stories and science behind world-first naturalistic garden

Now open at the Potter Museum of Art, The Measured Garden uncovers some of the stories behind an arts-meets-science, plant research and artistic collaboration between Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation and the University of Melbourne, designed to support the future success of Laak Boorndap – an 18,000 square metre naturalistic garden being built on an elevated deck in the city’s arts precinct. Through new artwork commissions, photography and archival material from the University of Melbourne’s Burnley Campus, the exhibition reflects on changes to how we understand plants, and new approaches to creating the gardens of the future, like Laak Boorndap – gardens inspired by nature, underpinned by research and designed to thrive in our changing climate and busy cities.
